Today is Friday. Roland left early in the morning for work.He took his bike with him so he can ride from his
office to the classroom he teaches in. He just got home now as Jocelyn, Anna and I returned from a walk along a garden road outside Dielheim. It's an asphalt path, wide enough for one vehicle, bicycles, walkers. Along the way are garden allotment plots, as big as back yards, with small storage buildings. Some of the allotments have children's playground equipment, some have patio chairs and table. They are places to till and plant and harvest.
Further down the way we came upon a clubhouse and dog park. We didn't see any dogs but we did see older people inside the clubhouse visiting and such. It was hard to tell if this was a private club or public.
The sky was darkening into grey, muggy clouds as we turned to walk home. Small drops became big heavy ones. We stopped beneath the thin shelter of a tall tree for the worst to be over before heading home, still getting rained on.
Earlier today we took the back roads to Heidelberg, to look at a Jack Russell terrier at Juniper's house. The potential candidate for the new Cadiz household member is a male, four months old, named Brutus. He is full sized now and an active, yet affectionate fellow. He could be a good fit with diligent training.
Then we went to the PHV, Patrick Henry Village, for lunch at Burger King, some time on the large playground across from BK while Jocie shopped for a few items at the commissary. That was the sum total of the day's activities outside the home. Inside we are making tacos for dinner and doing lots of laundry.
After nearly a week on the go it is nice to take it easier. I found a book to read and finished it in two days. It's called Five Quarters of an Orange by Joanne Harris, the author of Chocolat. It was an engaging read of fiction set during WWII in France.
