We spent this past weekend in the Seattle area. Explored a bit of the Fremont district and the old city of Ballard. We stayed in Bellevue. Sold two guitars at the Sea-Tac guitar show and sale. Drove home Sunday late afternoon.

MAY MAY MAY

I love the month of May!!! The trees leaf out, the grass gets lush, and it is time to weed the garden bed and plant the veggies!

Macintosh apple tree I planted a few years ago. Last year it had three delicious apples!

For my birthday we went to breakfast at the place NEXT door to the Flying Cat Cafe. Dave wanted to hear Eric Skye play guitar, but we were 30 minutes early for that. The fritatta advertised on the chalk board of the restaurant next door looked delicious (it was just 'ok') and I was HUNGRY. So we went there to eat instead. Popped in on Eric when we were finished. Off to the dentist for David after that. Lunch at Taco Bell in Newberg, then listened to the high school choirs perform at George Fox University. We heard Canby, West Linn, North Salem, Sprague and another (I forget as I'm writing). Canby came in 5th in state!!! Dave and I went to the local Mexican restaurant for a Cinco de Mayo dinner. Hit the spot!

On Sunday we went to the Ceramic Showcase at the Convention center in Portland. Saw some inspiring work! Off to Long Beach, Washington after that, taking Hwy 30 along the Columbia River to Astoria. It was a lovely, leisurely drive on a perfect sunny day. Our destination was the Adrift Hotel on the beach at Long Beach. The hotel was recently remodeled using the eco-friendly up-cycling ideas. I think that crates screwed to the walls for shelving is not very creative. Reminded me of using orange crates back in the day for our bookshelves. The hotel provided free use of beach bikes (for two hours). Off we went for 1 1/2 hour along the asphalt path through the beach grass. We attempted a ride on the packed sand, but the resistance of the sand, as well as riding into the wind, proved too much for us.
