This little pillow started out with one cretan stitch on black fabric. After a few more repeats of the stitch I decided to cover the entire 8" x 10" area with cretan stitch. I used a variegated floss which made the color changes occur in a completely unplanned way. I folded under the edges of the black (kona cotton) fabric and appliqued it to the gold narrow-wale corduroy and created a small pillow.
